Anita Reynolds

Anita grew up in the rich fertile lands of county Meath in Ireland. Her childhood was spent exploring the meadows and woodlands that surrounded her home. The discovery of wildflowers, birds’ nests and trees that provided imaginative playhouses were all part of her daily adventures. Her love for the natural world began as far back as she can remember as well as her desire to be an artist.

Anita studied art in the National College of Art Dublin. As a student she spent a summer working as a guide at Knowth passage tomb. Here she experienced first-hand the ongoing excavations to uncover the huge wealth of art carved into the rocks by her ancient ancestors. Home to the first Irish artists County Meath is steeped in ancient heritage. The Megalithic world heritage sites of Newgrange Knowth and Dowth can be found here along the banks of the river Boyne. The beautiful but simple motifs carved on the rocks have inspired Anita to create her Megalithic Marks range of colourful abstract batiks. Created on vintage Irish linen she is giving an Irish design classic a new life as a modern artwork.

Anita is now working full time as an artist after a career as an art teacher. Her studio is near the heritage town of Trim. Still in county Meath and surrounded by lush green countryside Anita has developed a timeless style of art that is modern and elegant. Through her ceramics and textiles, she creates unique pieces for home and garden inspired by the natural and historic heritage of Ireland.
